Twitter?
I have a group of friends that are NOT technologically savvy. They don’t know hard drive from a long drive. They do know sales and how to run a business, so how and why would they want to take the time to learn about social networking and Twitter specifically?
Well let’s first take a look at what is Twitter? Twitter is a micro blogging platform designed to let users answer the question: “What are you doing right now?” It allow friends (followers) to hear and answer that question in real time via SMS, IM and webpages.

Lead generation is the act of getting suspects (people that you ‘think’ may want your product or service) to ‘raise’ their hands so you can actively market to them.
Remember the definition of marketing is: “getting someone with a need to know, like and trust you”. Lead generation is effectively identifying those people who have a need.
When it comes to lead generation, there is no one hit wonder. The idea is to develop 10-20 lead generation strategies all based around a core marketing message and offer.

The content of this blog is geared toward small business and marketing strategies, but I couldn’t help but share my thoughts on this subject.
Tonight I have a date with a women that I met a few weeks ago at my birthday party. She was very tall and attractive and like many common courting scenarios we chatted, took interest in each other and exchange numbers. What single guy wouldn’t right?

What is Social Networking?
Networking isn’t a new concept. Whether it be campaigning for presidency or picking up the phone and calling someone to spread the latest gossip news, people have been “networking” for years.
Social media networking is a relatively new term that can be described as the grouping of individuals into specific groups, like small communities or a neighborhood subdivision. Although social networking is possible in person, especially in schools or in the workplace, it is most popular online. This is because unlike most high schools, colleges, or workplaces, the Internet is filled with millions of individuals who are looking to meet other Internet users and develop friendships and business relationships, too.

Here is great overview John Jantsch did about the “7 Steps to Marketing Success”:
“Quiet often these days I get asked to explain the core components in the Duct Tape Marketing small business marketing system. The key word in that last sentence being system - yes marketing is a system just like making it, fixing it, shipping it, and paying for it is, we just don’t treat it as such.
I’ve witnessed some pretty tremendous things when small business owners get that point.
I recorded a brief audio overview of the 7 key steps to creating a small business marketing system and thought I would share them with you here.

In my business I make a lot of phone calls. I’m always looking for new ways to make that activity easier and faster. I also do a lot of traveling and at times it becomes inconvenient to make prospecting calls from a cell phone, especially while on the road.
I have a solution that I think you will find very useful. This solution allows me to make calls from anywhere (even my car) that has an internet connection.
Here’s what you’ll need:
- Access to the internet
- An online CRM (i use salesforce.com) Another free option is zoho

If you aren’t actively marketing for local search prospects, you are missing out big time.
With close to 300 million searches per day, there is no denying that people use search engines. But do they use them when looking for local products and services?
There is an abundance of public data suggesting that as high as 80% of potential prospects turn to the internet first when looking for a local product or service.
