Dating in the Digital Age- How has technology affected our courtship?

The content of this blog is geared toward small business and marketing strategies, but I couldn’t help but share my thoughts on this subject.
Tonight I have a date with a women that I met a few weeks ago at my birthday party. She was very tall and attractive and like many common courting scenarios we chatted, took interest in each other and exchange numbers. What single guy wouldn’t right?
Heres the kicker since then, June 9th, we have been texting each other with our cell phones. Funny jokes, teasing and common ‘get to know you’ questions. The question came up do you have a myspace page? I don’t, but this would have been another way for her to “get to know” me without really talking to me.
The same is true in the marketing (hey this is a marketing blog) the whole purpose, in a business sense, of a blog, linkedIn, myspace, facebook ect is to allow your customers to to get to know, like and trust you before ever meeting you. Perhaps I should create a coaching program on “How to Book Yourself Solid: The Dating Edition”.
I have not spoken to her on the phone and we are going to meet up for the first time tonight. I couldn’t help but think about how technology is changing the way we interact with each other and the similarities between marketing myself for personal relationships and business.
Have any of you had a similar thought?
