Use Skype to Increase Productivity-Remotely Too!
May 23rd, 2008 . by Jeff ParoIn my business I make a lot of phone calls. I’m always looking for new ways to make that activity easier and faster. I also do a lot of traveling and at times it becomes inconvenient to make prospecting calls from a cell phone, especially while on the road.
I have a solution that I think you will find very useful. This solution allows me to make calls from anywhere (even my car) that has an internet connection.
Here’s what you’ll need:
- Access to the internet
- An online CRM (i use salesforce.com) Another free option is zoho
- Skype
- A USB headset (i use a plantronics and love it) Of course you can use any USB headset you prefer.

When you install skype you will see a button on the top of your browser that will allow you ‘toggle’ the linking on or off.

When you go to a site that has telephone numbers it will automatically highlight it and you can just click it and it will dial it.
Skype has several payment options. When I signed up it was $19.95 for 1 year of unlimited calls to US and Canada. I get high quality sound with very little latency even when I use my cellular wireless broad card.

Hi Jeff,
Excellent post - we couldn’t have said it better! Glad you have discovered our tools.
One thing you probably do not know is that we will be publishing a new version of the Skype web add-ons for both Firefox and Internet Explorer in the next few days. The new feature in that version is that phone numbers inside Salesforce.com will be automatically linked just as on other sites. Hope that makes you even more productive.
Best regards

Hi Peter,
Can you please explain? How will they be linked?
